ISKCON Sydney: Rathayatra - Festival of Chariots @ Parramatta 27th May 12 PM

Open invitation to everyone to come and participate in the Fourth Annual Rathayatra (Festival of Chariots) in Parramatta –

Parade starts from Prince Alfred square, Parramatta( corner of Market St. and Church St.)

Lord Jaganatha has again agreed to personally come and give Darshan to everyone in the famous city of Parramatta on Saturday, 27th May 2017 at 12 pm.

Ratha Yatra, the festival of the chariots, is a procession of Lord Krishna in his form of Jagannatha, Lord of the Universe. Traditionally held during the month of June/July, in Puri, eastern India, where hundreds of thousands of pilgrims sing and dance in the procession, the festival now takes place in cities all over the world.

We are planning to pull this 2 tonne, 6 meter high Ratha from Prince Alfred Square to Church Street mall, Parramatta. We need a lot of people to come and help pull this Ratha.

The Vedic scriptures state that anyone who sees Lord Jagannatha or pulls His chariots achieves immense spiritual benefit, attaining liberation from the material world and entrance into the eternal blissful pastimes of the Lord. Anyone who has experienced the Rathayatra has surely experienced ecstasy. The mood of the day is charged with devotion, excitement and complete surrender as devotees brush the streets before the chariot. The sea of people in the procession call out loudly for the Lord´s attention as they eagerly await their turn to pull the cart or sweep the streets. The entire atmosphere is one of happiness, joy and celebration.

Jagannatha Swami nayana pata gami bhavatu me! "O Jagannatha, Lord of the Universe, please be visible before my eyes."

Lord Jagannāth, Lord Baladeva and Lady Subhadra will enthrone the beautifully decorated huge chariot. Hundreds of devotees from different parts of the Sydney will flock in the city Parramatta and blessed to get the chance to pull ropes of the divine chariot. The Lord’s journey will be from the Prince Alfred Square (Opposite Novotel Hotel) to Church Street Mall The cymbals, the mridangas and other musicals instruments will be played out to welcome the Lord. The ever enchanting melody of ‘Hare Krsna Mahamantra’ will inundate the atmosphere and the people would joyfully dance to its tune. The grand procession would culminate at the Church Street Mall followed by Maha Aarati and Kirtan.
